Earth Day Oregon Launches Largest Earth Day Oregon Campaign to Date

Earth Day Oregon has announced 100 local nonprofit organizations have joined its campaign to celebrate Earth Day, April 22, 2023 — its largest and most ambitious statewide effort to date. Earth Day Oregon’s new website will host an action hub to find events, promotions, nonprofit and business partners, and ways to engage by location. The list of businesses and events will continue to grow throughout April.

“Earth Day is one day a year for most of us, but for our hardworking nonprofit partners, Earth Day is every day,” said Kelly Stevens, executive director, Earth Day Oregon. “April 22 is an opportunity for us to come together around our common goals of healthy environments, equitable communities, and sustainable economies everywhere in Oregon.”

Earth Day Oregon fosters and promotes partnerships between 100 nonprofits and 300 local businesses. All Oregonians are invited to participate by attending a partner’s event or by donating to a nonprofit directly. Since its inception in 2019, the annual effort from Earth Day Oregon has facilitated more than $700,000 in donations to its nonprofit partners. This year’s goal is an additional $500,000.

“We intentionally partner with organizations that work across the sustainability spectrum. From providing affordable and clean energy to reducing inequalities, ending poverty and hunger, and protecting Oregon’s ecosystems, the beauty of this campaign is that you can support these diverse causes and our local businesses at the same time in April, while knowing that you are part of making a major impact,” said Stevens.

Earth Day Oregon 2023 partners are spread throughout the state, along the coast, through the Willamette Valley, in the Gorge, and across Central and Eastern Oregon. Forty-one percent are based beyond the Portland Metro area – up from 33% last year.
