Creatively Reducing Waste
Over 100 artists will showcase and sell their up-cycled art featuring indoor, outdoor, and wearable pieces at McMenamins Edgefield July 22 & 23. Come see what was saved from the trash and given a new life.
If you just can not make that date, never fear you will still have a chance to marvel at the remarkable artwork recycled from trash and found objects. For the 15 years that Crackedpots has held their popular recycled art show at Edgefield Lodge in Troutdale, they have dreamed of having a retail store and art gallery. That dream came true on June 27 with the grand opening of ReClaim It! located at 1 N Killingsworth (corner of N Williams). The public is invited to check it out!
The new store sells art materials and found objects to artists, treasure hunters, and the hip DIY community of Portlandia. Nearly all items have been salvaged directly from the Metro Central Transfer Station. The store’s already full of fabulous finds: musical instruments, old wooden windows, metal boxes, a copper clad screen door, metal wheels and gears, flooring samples, a picket fence, turned chair legs, an iron bed frame, a mahogany dining table, metal pieces of all shapes and sizes, fishing rods, and the list goes on! Store hours are 11am – 6pm Friday through Sunday .
